FAA Remote Certification: Infinite 8 Aeronautics flight instructors have successfully passed the FAA Remote Pilot Examination and are correctly certificated to commercially operate unmanned aerial systems or drones.

The Drone School's Commercial Drone Pilot Program (CDPP), and the Commercial Drone Software Development Program (CSDP) is for the individual with little or no experience working with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), or computer programming. The courses will especially benefit the following individuals: students and professionals, entrepreneurs, the unemployed, underemployed, veterans, and those seeking a career change.

This course is a blended learning experience, offering preparatory training for the new FAA Knowledge exam, while also providing practical, hands-on ground and in-flight UAV training, in a comfortable and safe in-door environment. The drone for training purposes will be provided.

COMMERCIAL DRONE PILOT PROGRAM 101: COURSE SUMMARY

REQUIREMENTS TO OBTAIN CERTIFICATION.

Minimum Age: 16 years of age within 30 days of graduation.

Background Check: Must be able to pass a background check by the Transportation Security Administration.

Minimum FAA Exam Prep Time: 16 hours

Flight Time: 20 hours of flight time will be acquired using the Syma x5c-1 quad-copter, with protective blade guards, and photo/video capabilities. Students will also gain hands on experience learning about the parts and components of the quad-copter, as well as a introduction to aerial photography and videography. 

Ground School - 16 hours of test preparation will be acquired using lectures, videos, worksheets, and role-plays. The course will cover the following topics: ABC's ofUAV's, Statutory Background, Part 107-General, Operating Limitations for Small Unmanned Aircraft, Remote Pilot Certification, Maintenance and Inspection, Flight Stabilization and Pre-flight Checks, and Beginner Flight Patterns.

EXAMINATIONS AND FLIGHT TESTS

Written Examination: Written examinations are conducted by Infinite 8 Aeronautics. A minimum of 70% on the final examination must be obtained in order to become certificated.

Flight Test: Flight Tests are conducted in-doors, at the Omaha Commerce Village, in Downtown Omaha, located at 950 10th Street, Suite 008, Omaha, NE 68108.

PRIVILEGES TO THE HOLDER OF CERTIFICATE

The Drone School CDPP Certificate, while not granting its holder FAA permission to fly commercially, the certificate will add a layer of professionalism and experience prior to sitting for the FAA Knowledge Exam for aspiring commercial UAV pilots. At the conclusion of the course, participants are expected to sit for the FAA Knowledge exam within 30 days of completing the course.

The CDPP Certificate is an official endorsement and may be used as a reference from Infinite 8 Institute, and is your gateway to obtaining an FAA approved Commercial Pilots License and a future career in unmanned aviation.

COMMERCIAL DRONE PILOT PROGRAM 201: COURSE SUMMARY

The above 3D Model was completed by one of our 201 students, Jeff Parr. The structure is a 20th Century Castle (Joslyn), located in Omaha, NE.

Beginning January 2018!

This course is an intermediate level course for students, professionals, and entrepreneurs looking to get serious about a career in the burgeoning commercial drone industry, particularly aerial photography and videography.

·      APPROXIMATE COST: 10-week Course = $5500

·     10-week course with hands-on outdoor flight time, and videography/photo editing;

·       Mission-based learning incorporated through aeronautical missions;

·       Point Cloud, Virtual Reality, and 3D-Modeling;

·       Fly using a Mavic Pro autonomous drone by DJI for indoor/outdoor flight.

During the 12-week course, students will get hands-on building an advanced prototyping drone from scratch, which is capable of visual recognition technology and obstacle avoidance. Students will gain the ability to learn and understand the inner-workings of drones from an engineering and data analysis standpoint. The course will cover the following topics:

  • High precision vision positioning;
  • Obstacle sensing;
  • High precision visual odometer system;
  • Ultrasonic sensor systems;
  • Image input;
  • Inertial measurement unit input;
  • 3D Sensing;
  • Acceleration modules;
  • ARM Cortex-A9 systems;
  • Understanding CAN, UART, and BUS systems of connectivity;
  • Frame Instillation;
  • Electronic Speed Controller Use and Modification;
  • DJI Zenmuse X3 Gimbal Installation with Camera;
  • DJI Intelligent Flight Battery Functionality;

During the 12-week course, students will get hands-on building an advanced self-driving car prototype from scratch, using hobbyist parts as well as additional technologies, which provide sensing capabilities necessary for machines to operate in our world. Students will learn and broaden their understanding on many scientific topics. The course will cover the following topics:
